Wireless sensor networks -1


From this post onwards I will be giving some basic information on wireless sensor networks (WSN).

WSNs are formed using a group of network elements called motes, wherein each mote consists of a microcontroller,sensor and a transceiver. These find application in sensing temperature,pressure or any other elements in areas where it is not feasible to use wired connections or frequent human intervention.

Some of the mote images are as shown below.






















The motes are of very small size and consume very low power . Hence, can be used for extended periods of time with frequent human intervention.
